How to Set Up Loopvew on an Android TV or Android Player

Before you start
- An Android TV, Google TV device, Android media box or tablet.
- The device's manufacturer, model, Android version and free storage.
- A stable network connection.
- A Loopvew account.
Android is the most common platform for digital signage — affordable players, compact boxes and plenty of TVs with Android built in. The Loopvew Android player is stable and available; public store links are coming soon, so you get the official build from the Loopvew team.
Step 1 — Check the device
Record the manufacturer, model, Android version, free storage and output resolution, and whether it’s an Android TV, Google TV device, tablet or media box. Share these through the downloads page or contact to confirm compatibility and get the correct build.
Step 2 — Install the player
Install the Loopvew player from the official source supplied for your device. Don’t use another vendor’s installer or an unofficial download.
Step 3 — Pair the screen
Open the player. It shows a 6-digit pairing code. In the Loopvew CMS, open Screens and select Register Screen. Enter a name, the pairing code, the time zone and the location.
Step 4 — Configure unattended playback
A signage screen has to survive restarts with nobody there. On the device:
- Enable auto-start so the player launches on boot, following the guidance for your build.
- Grant only the permissions the build needs — not every permission a device offers.
- Disable sleep and screensavers.
- Exclude the player from battery optimisation, which can close background apps.
- Keep tablets on permanent power.
Kiosk behaviour, screenshots and remote reboot depend on the Android version and manufacturer restrictions — check them on your device.
Step 5 — Test and publish
Publish a short playlist with the formats you plan to use. Then:
- Restart the device fully — content should return without anyone touching it.
- Disconnect the network — cached content should keep playing.
- Reconnect — changes you published meanwhile should arrive.
Live websites and streams still need a connection, so pair them with cached content.
Troubleshooting
Check the device clock, network access, free storage and player build first. For playback issues, note the media format, resolution and bitrate; for restart issues, note permission and battery settings. Then contact support.
