How to Use a Windows PC as a Digital Signage Player

A Windows PC makes a powerful signage player — ideal for video walls, heavy dashboards and multi-zone layouts, and easy to manage in estates that already run Windows. The Loopvew Windows player is stable and available; contact Loopvew for the current installer.

Step 1 — Prepare the PC

Record the Windows edition, processor architecture, GPU and display outputs. Then:

1. Connect the PC to the display over HDMI or DisplayPort.
2. Connect power and — ideally — wired ethernet.
3. Set the display resolution to the screen’s native resolution.

Step 2 — Install the player

Run the official Loopvew installer for your PC, available through the downloads page. Don’t use another vendor’s installer.

Step 3 — Pair the screen

Open the player; it displays a 6-digit pairing code. In the Loopvew CMS, open Screens, select Register Screen, and enter a name, the code, the time zone and the location.

Step 4 — Harden for unattended use

Windows is built for people at desks, so a few settings need changing for a screen that runs alone:

• Start the player automatically after sign-in, and configure automatic sign-in for a dedicated signage account if your IT policy allows it.
• Disable sleep, hibernate and screen-off timers.
• Schedule Windows updates and restarts outside opening hours.
• Turn off notifications and pop-ups that could appear over content.
• Use a dedicated local account with only the rights the player needs.

Agree these with your IT team, especially on managed corporate devices.

Step 5 — Publish and test

Publish a playlist with your real content, then restart the PC and disconnect the network to confirm playback recovers on its own.
