Before you start

  • A paired Loopvew screen that is online — weather is live data.
  • The city or location the forecast should show.

A live weather widget is one of the easiest ways to make a screen worth glancing at. It updates itself, so every loop looks a little different without anyone creating new content. Weather is one of Loopvew’s built-in widgets.

Step 1 — Add the weather widget

In the Loopvew CMS, add the weather widget where you want it to appear:

  • As a playlist item — the forecast takes the full screen for its slot in the loop.
  • In a side zone — the forecast stays on screen permanently beside your main content. See multi-zone layouts.

Step 2 — Set the location

Enter the city or location the forecast should show. For businesses with many sites, create one widget per location and publish each to the matching group — for example “Mumbai stores” and “Pune stores”.

Step 3 — Set the duration

  • Full-screen slot: 10–20 seconds is plenty.
  • Side zone: no duration needed; it stays live.

Step 4 — Publish and check

Publish the playlist and look at the screen from where your audience stands. The temperature and conditions should be readable at a glance.

Where weather works best

  • Reception and lobbies — visitors check it before heading out.
  • Retail entrances — pair rain forecasts with umbrella or rainwear promotions.
  • Cafés — hot-drink offers on cold mornings, cold drinks on hot afternoons.
  • Offices — alongside a clock and news ticker.
  • Hotels — in lobbies next to local events.

Tips

  • Weather needs connectivity to update — keep cached content in the same playlist.
  • Place weather at the edge of a layout so it supports, rather than competes with, your main message.
  • Combine with a clock and date for a classic information panel.
